Obituary Design
Those who know me are often surprised when I say I find joy in designing obituaries. Honestly, it surprised me as well. I’ve come to see it as an honor to be able to help families celebrate life—even when death is the reason I’m called.
For as long as I can remember, i’ve always loved celebrating others—so designing obituaries has become one of the most meaningful and unexpected turns in my life that I never saw coming. It started from creating my grandmother’s obituary, Isebella Holmes. Her last party was a surprise party my family and I put together. I went all out on the decorations to make it the fanciest soirée she’d ever had. When she passed unexpectedly, I felt the best way to honor her was to give her one more big celebration, in print.
The details are what makes my designs special. But it’s empathy and patience that makes me good at what I do. Every project is more than a layout—I approach each one as if I’m designing for my own loved one.
It’s about storytelling, remembrance, and celebration all in one.
